Hola Salamanca!

Just a few photo's from my little trip to Salamanca! Amazing town with so much to see! Wish I had a better camera but I captured what I could on my iPhone!




Incredible sights and great people! Big thanks to Alex and his parents for their hospitality! Hopefully I can return the favour!

Defence League - Space Hero - Part 3

Moving steadily on...

So the latest on this little guy is as follows...





As you can see a few little bits added here and there like his ray gun and some initial texturing.. I just wanted to get a sense of colour and how I want him to eventually end up. Got the base pretty much down now! Its time to add in the small touches!

**MINI UPDATE**
Just what I've been messing around with.. Been pretty busy so haven't had much time to work on him! However! Zbrush you cheeky devil you... I JUST found out about the BPR button.. Now I realise I'm probably late with this but OMG! It makes everything look so smooth and nice :) I need to learn more about how it works because I'm probably using it all wrong! Also SUPER excited (nerd) about the update for Zbrush coming out next week! (see link http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=160240

Also... Eyebrows.. Yay or Nay? Maybe a lil thinner I need to play about a bit more! Let me know what you guys think?

Defence League - Space Hero - Part 2

So I've almost finished the modelling of this guy.. Need to add a few things details-wise like the arm-cannon and details to the armour etc but so far its starting to actually look like something!

Obvious improvements all over.. The helmet, armour, accessories, boots. But I think once I've finished the textures its going to bring a lot out of the model!


Here's a shot of the face in Zbrush. I was messing around with expressions and thought this one was funny. He looks a bit cocky here though so I'll probably end up changing it! 


As always let me know what you think? Anything you think I should change or add? (that I haven't mentioned).

Defence League - Space Hero

So I've been working on a new piece.. And not as methodically as I'd have liked but it seems to be working out so far... I'm making a still image composed up of three mini heroes defending something important. I've already thought of everything and how I want the picture to end up looking but I think I'm going to keep that bit a secret and let you watch it unfold!

Here's the first hero out of the three... The Space Hero.

I didn't start off with this sketch. In fact I drew this up last night so it would give me a better direction of where I wanted to go!

I made this quick base mesh to start me off so I could think up of something in Zbrush. I really don't like coming up with proper ideas on the fly but as I'm pretty restraint with times I figured it would be the best way to start things off.




I spent a little time blocking him out and moving bits around but he's definitely heading in the right direction! I've already retopologised the chest armour and the belt and now I'm working away at the boots! I'll then bring everything together in Maya and see how its looking. Watch this space!


**UPDATE**

So I've been working a bit on this lil guy and I've made some progress! He's been retopologised and also UV mapped and separated properly!

Also started some detail on his inner suit and a little work on the gloves!

Zbrush Sketch - The Boxer

Inspired by a thread I saw on Zbrush Central I decided to do a sculpt of a boxer character. 
Initially I couldn't get exactly what I was going for but after some tweaking it was heading in more of the right direction! I didn't want to spend to long on it either. I was going to leave it at that but I decided to polypaint it aswell...

Ok so here it goes...

I'm not posting any artwork.. And I know I haven't posted any in a while but soon I'll be flooding this blog with plenty of concepts and loads of 3D and zbrush goodies so stay tuned!

I've been in discussions with an old friend of mine by the name of Daniel BĂ„venmark and we have come up with two stories.

I'll mention the second first as I won't be discussing it yet (top secret stuff...) But its a much bigger and more ambitious project then the first so you'll have to wait a while before that comes to light!

The first project we'll be working on is going to be a short animated feature. I've always had a problem of writing my stories too big and too ambitious so I've placed in restrictions from the beginning to keep the project manageable! So here's to hoping everything runs smoothly!

The restrictions -

1 character (shocker)
1 environment

That may not seem like much but believe me I find it hard not to have a million things going on a once... However, call me a cheat but the ONE character we do have in our story has a split personality! An old hermit living in the mountains..

Story and concept art coming soon!

Sharky the half hammerhead half mobster.

This is just a quick post to show something I've been working on... I know I said I'm going to be doing environments but I couldn't resist the lures of Zbrush... It's like it forces me to make characters! 
Anyway this is a half hammerhead shark half human with a mix of 1940's italian mob, and as you can tell he's far from finished! But just as a small preview and the fact that I haven't had the chance to post anything in a while here's where I'm at with it so far!


I'm going to add a cigar and a Al Capone style hat... Detail the shirt, tie and braces and maybe add a few scars to the face.

Any feedback, comments and criticism are welcome!

***UPDATE*** 




So I've finally got around to finishing this guy! Full model made in Zbrush (with the exception of the hat which the base mesh was made in maya) I'm not really good with naming so for now I'll stick with "Sharky" (Inventive I know...) But again... Please comment and let me know what you think C & C are more than welcome!
